What is a
Justice of the Peace?

A Justice of the Peace (JP) is an elected public servant entrusted with delivering peace and justice at the community level.
JPs serve four-year terms and preside over Justice Courts in each Arizona county. There are nine JP Precincts in Pima County.
Their responsibilities include resolving criminal misdemeanors and civil cases involving claims of up to $10,000.
